Notre Dame hires new boys’ soccer coach

GREEN BAY – Notre Dame Academy has named Michael Prudisch as the new varsity head coach of the boys’ soccer team.

“After playing soccer for 22 years, I’m excited for the opportunity to pass my knowledge of the game to the next generation of soccer players,” Prudisch said. “I consider myself blessed to be able to start my varsity coaching career with a program as successful as Notre Dame.”

A science teacher at NDA, Prudisch will succeed Bob Rickards, who led the boys’ team to success during his 14 years as head coach.

Rickards left NDA to become the women’s soccer coach at St. Norbert College in De Pere.

“The NDA soccer program has had a lot of success over the years, and I plan to continue leading the program to become state contenders each year by setting high expectations, working hard and leading by example,” said Prudisch. “My goal is to show players my personal commitment to success in hopes they develop the same expectations for themselves, and we’ll let God take care of the rest.”

Prudisch spent two seasons competing for the semi-pro Madison 56ers team from 2012-2013.

During that season, the team finished third in the nation and won the Midwest Region Conference championship.

Further, he was captain of the UW-Platteville soccer team.

During his junior year, the team made the sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament, and Prudisch was named WIAC defensive player of the year, first team all-state and all-conference and second team all-region.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michael as the new boys’ soccer coach,” said NDA principal Patrick Browne. “I look forward to the ways in which he will share and instill the values of faith, determination and teamwork into our student-athletes.”
