Shooting suspect sought by Ashwaubenon police

ASHWAUBENON – On Wednesday, June 19, Ashwaubenon investigators were assisted by Green Bay police in looking for a shooting suspect and his accomplices at a residence in the 1000 block of Newtols Street in the City of Green Bay.

Authorities spotted a blue Nissan Murano vehicle believed to be occupied by one of the suspects.

Police did a high-risk traffic stop, ultimately taking one Juan Carlos Romero-Ahumada, a 19-year-old Green Bay man into custody.

Investigators were assisted by the Green Bay SWAT team in executing a search warrant of the Romero-Ahumada residence.

Romero-Ahumada was booked into the Brown County Jail with charges referred to the District Attorney’s Office of Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide as a party to the crime, Aggravated Battery as Party to the crime, Armed Robbery and Theft.

Leonel Vasquez-Meza, a 20-year-old Green Bay man, wanted in connection, turned himself into authorities June 20.

This case is from a shooting on Thursday, June 13, where a 20-year-old Green Bay man was shot at the Microtel Hotel on Allied Street in the Village of Ashwaubenon.

The victim in this case survived the shooting and has been released from the hospital.
