Preble announces Hall of Fame class

GREEN BAY – The Preble High School athletic department recently inducted five members into its athletic Hall of Fame.

New members include Robert Basten, Chad Froelich, Rod Leadley, Jake Wallenfang and Stephanie Stock.

Basten, a 1990 graduate, participated and lettered in football and track and field.

He was first team all-conference as an offensive and defensive tackle and was named the Fox River Valley Conference offensive and defensive player of the year in 1989.

Basten also excelled in track and field.

He was the 1988-89 FRVC regional and sectional champion in the shot put and placed third at the WIAA state meet in 1990.

Froelich, a 1991 graduate, participated and lettered in the sports of cross country and track and

field.

Froelich accumulated eight individual meet victories over his cross country career and was a member of the 1988 WIAA state runner-up cross country team.

He was also the 1990 state track and field champion in the 1,600.

Froelich attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and is currently a commercial airline pilot.

Leadley was a teacher and coach at Edison Junior High School and Preble from 1972 until his retirement in 2005.

Leadley was a member of the girls’ volleyball coaching staff that won 10 conference championships, four trips to the state tournament and the 1991 WIAA state championship.

While at Preble, he also coached track and field and cross country at various times.

Wallenfang, a member of the class of 2013, participated and lettered in football and track and field.

He was the 2012 Fox River Classic Conference offensive football player of the year and won the WIAA Division 1 state pole vault title in 2013 with a vault of 16 feet, which is still the current record.

Stock, a 2009 graduate, participated and lettered in cross country and track and field.

She is a four-time WIAA state track meet qualifier and currently holds the Preble records in the 400 (58.6) and 800 (2:14.84).

Stock received a full academic scholarship and attended the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.

She received a Gilman Scholarship to study abroad and was a Fulbright Scholar.
