Bay Port, area individuals advance to golf state

HOBART – One area team and two individuals are heading to the WIAA Division 1 State Boys’ Golf Tournament in Madison June 3-4 at University Ridge.

Bay Port finished second behind Kaukauna at the Notre Dame Academy Sectional May 28 at the Thornberry Creek Golf Course in Hobart to advance as a team.

The Pirates narrowly finished ahead of Notre Dame by one stroke.

Only the top two teams advanced their entire squad.

Green Bay Southwest’s Trent Thomas and Green Bay Preble’s Cole Hanke also advanced as individuals to state.

Bay Port’s Preston Cedergren tied for medalist honors with his 2-over par 74.

Thomas (75, tie fourth), Hanke (75, tie fourth) and Preble’s Bryan Boockmeier (77, tie ninth) also finished in the top 10.

Pulaski: Cayden Egnarski 84, Cade Sauer 88, Logan Lukasik 92, Quinn Process 93, Aaron Tonn 105.

Preble: Cole Hanke 75*, Bryan Boockmeier 77, Jacob Warpinski 90, Izak Wiegman 92, Connor Novitski 100.

Southwest: Trent Thomas 75*, Mitchell Stary 91.
