SUAMICO – The village board has awarded a contract for $736,640 to Northeast Asphalt as the low bidder to reconstruct roads in Suamico this year.

Andy Smits, public works director, informed the board at its meeting Monday, April 1, that the roadway reconstruction for 2019 will involve portions of Scotch Pine Trail to the north to include Torrey Pines Circle and North Lake Ridge Lane, Scotch Pine Trail to the south, Whippoorwill Road, Velp Avenue, West Deerfield Avenue, Breezeway Bluff Court, the Chambers Hill first addition and the extension of Crown Point Circle.

MCC also bid on the roadway reconstruction with its overall price coming in at $812,700.

Three-lot CSM

Board members also approved a three-lot certified survey map for Patricia Van Essen on 11.25 acres of property on the north side of Musket Drive at Shiloh Road.

The board’s motion in favor includes: the payment of $600 in parkland dedication fees; meeting the requirements of all other applicable ordinances, regulations and reviewing agencies; and is contingent upon legal review by the village attorney regarding language about the proximity of the old landfill near the property.

Steve Dunks, village zoning administrator/building inspector, noted all three lots zoned Rural Residential exceed 3 1/2 acres in size and front an existing improved road with no additional road improvements required.

Though one lot has reduced road frontage, Dunks said that was part of a Planned Development District approved in 2017.

Reader board

A resolution passed by the board officially designated $14,110 in excess funds from the Lambeau Field stadium sales tax to go toward the approximately $19,060 the village expects to spend to purchase a new color reader board at the Municipal Services Center.

Jessica Legois, Suamico finance director, said the village has around $500,000 left to use out of the $641,530 it received from the stadium tax refund.

The resolution notes the stadium tax dollars may be used to stimulate economic development, pay off debt services or provide property tax relief.
