Howard trustees elected in three contested races

By Press Times Staff

HOWARD – Village voters decided three contested trustee races Tuesday, April 2, and elected one new board member.

In Wards 1-2, in which Ron Bradael elected not to seek a new two-year term and no one’s name appeared on the ballot, a write-in campaign took place with 110 votes going to the three top vote-getters and 231 ballots not selecting any of those candidates for trustee.

According to the unofficial results from the village of Howard, Maria Lesecki, director of Brown County Child Support, earned a seat on the board after receiving 64 write-in votes. Greg Cleerman placed second with 38 votes and Jason Jerry came in third with eight votes.

Wards 9-10

Trustee Scott Beyer earned the right to complete the remainder of a one-year term after outpolling Tim Meves, 279 to 153 votes.

Beyer took his seat on the board last July when he was appointed to replace Jim Lemorande, who passed away in June.

Meves, who outpolled Beyer in the February 2018 primary and then lost in last April’s general election to Lemorande, had also sought the appointment last summer when the board selected Beyer to fill the seat until this April.

Wards 15-17

Trustee Craig McAllister was re-elected to his second two-year term after outpolling challenger Brian Miller, 371 to 121 votes.

Six Howard trustee seats in total were up for election this spring with the other three races being uncontested.

Chris Nielsen (Wards 3-4) and Adam Lemorande (Wards 13-14, 18) were re-elected to new two-year terms, while John Muraski (Wards 7-8) earned the right to complete the remainder of a one-year term.

Muraski was appointed to the board last September to fill the vacancy created last summer following the resignation of Mike Hoppe.
