By Press Times Staff

DE PERE – The West De Pere School District Board of Education has announced two candidates for the position of superintendent will move on for second interviews.

Those candidates are Russell Gerke, West De Pere High School principal, and Dennis Krueger, superintendent of the School District of New London.

The candidate’s second interview with the school board will be held Wednesday, April 3.

The board also wants to thank parents, staff and community members for input provided in an online survey and those who served on an advisory committee.

The four other candidates who interviewed March 18-19 are Matt Spets, assistant superintendent of operations for the Howard-Suamico School District, Chris Peterson, superintendent of the Howards Grove School District, Mark Elworthy, superintendent of the Whitewater Unified School District, and Annette Deuman, superintendent of the Columbus School District.

In January, the district announced that John Zegers will retire on July 5, after serving as superintendent of the district since 2008.
