De Pere hires new volleyball coach

DE PERE – De Pere High School has announced the hiring of Patrick Brocker III as its varsity volleyball head coach.

Brocker has been a coach in the Redbirds’ program since 2013.

He led the freshman team for one season and has been the junior varsity head coach the past six seasons.

He is also the head coach of the De Pere Diggers 14’s club team.

Before joining the De Pere High School staff, he held coaching positions at Denmark and Green Bay Southwest high schools.

A 2013 graduate of UW-Green Bay, Brocker is a credit operations specialist for Associated Bank.

“Since coming to De Pere, my wife and I have fallen in love with the community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the volleyball program,” Brocker said. “The commitment of the athletes here is so impressive. There is a lot of talent in this program, and they should be a fun group to watch.”

Brocker will replace Stephen Gladwell, who led the program to a 14-31 overall record this past season and a tie for sixth place in the Fox River Classic Conference.

“I have high expectations for this team, but at the end of the day, the most important thing for me is that the girls enjoy and are proud of their time as a student-athlete,” Brocker added. “This is the players’ team. I am here to help them get as much out of their volleyball experience as possible.”

De Pere athletics director Jeff Byczek said, “Coach Brocker has been a tremendous Redbird for many years. He comes from a volleyball family. He has done a tremendous job growing as a coach at the sub-varsity levels, and his personality is a great fit for our program. We couldn’t be more excited to have PJ take the lead.”
