SHEBOYGAN – For the second season in a row, the Bay Port girls’ basketball team has won a Fox River Classic Conference title.

Behind 20 points and 11 rebounds from Emma Nagel, the Pirates turned back Sheboygan North, 55-48, Feb. 14 at North High School.

The No. 4 state-ranked Pirates finished one game ahead of Green Bay Preble, who gave Bay Port its only loss of the season Feb. 8.

With the victory, Bay Port ends the regular season 21-1 overall and 17-1 in the conference.

The Pirates, who received a No. 1 seed in the upcoming WIAA Division 1 playoffs, also got 15 and 11 points, respectively, from McKenzie Johnson and Alaina Abel.

Bay Port will open regional play Feb. 22 when they host the winner of No. 17 Manitowoc Lincoln/No. 16 Sheboygan South.

Boys lose in overtime: tied at 58 at the end of regulation, the Bay Port boys’ basketball team was outscored 7-0 in overtime in a 65-58 FRCC loss to North Feb. 14 at Bay Port High School.

Sam Plumb had his best game of the year for the Pirates (12-7 overall, 11-5 FRCC) in scoring 17 points and hauling in 13 rebounds.

Logan Geissler and Andrew Thomas were the only other Bay Port players to score in double figures with 10.

The Pirates, who have now lost two straight after winning seven in a row, were playing without junior Ethan Begotka, who injured his ankle Feb. 11 in a game at Green Bay Southwest.
