Tell me about your family.

“I have three older sisters. Madeline is 24 and in medical school at Northwestern, Margaret is 22 and will be graduating from St. Thomas soon and Lizzie is at UW-Madison. My parents grew up in Denmark.”

Do you come from a sports family?

“All three of my sisters did volleyball and basketball, and Lizzie and Madeline played soccer as well. Margaret did track. My mom ran track at Marquette and my dad played baseball and football in high school.”

Is there a sport you wish you had done in high school?

“I did play soccer when I was younger and enjoyed it, so I think that would have been fun to keep playing.”

What is your earliest basketball memory?

“I was very shy when I was younger and didn’t like basketball at the time – luckily that’s changed. I was probably 9 years old and would come to practice crying.”

It’s playoff time! What can this team do?

“This team has had some ups and downs, but when we play together, we can play with anyone. We’ve competed with Bay Port and the other teams in our conference. I think we have a chance to do well in the playoffs.”

What is your most memorable sport’s moment?

“Making it to the state meet this past fall as a team in cross country. It was such a great atmosphere and super fun.”

Do you have an embarrassing moment?

“During a cross country meet I ended up sprinting where I thought the finish was, but when I got there, I realized I had more than a mile left. It was a tough last mile – I did my best not to walk.”

If you could have lunch with any famous person, who would it be?

“Actress Sandra Bullock because I love a lot of her movies and I also feel she does a lot for her community. It would be interesting to get to know more about her.”

What’s on your music playlist?

“I enjoy country.”

Does country get you pumped up before a game?

“(Teammate) Natalie Cerrato controls the music before the game in the locker room, so we’re usually not listening to country!”

What three words best describe you?

“Kind, easy-going, hard-working.”

Besides Wisconsin, what would be your favorite state and why?

“Florida – I used to go there as a kid a lot and have fond memories of it. I love beaches and warm weather. It would be nice to be on a beach right now.”

How will Elena Miller be remembered at De Pere?

“I hope as being friendly to everyone, hard-working and easy to be around.”
