Food truck rallies approved at Ashwaubomay Park

ASHWAUBENON – Three food truck rallies are in the works for next summer in Ashwaubomay Park.

The village board voted Tuesday, Dec. 18, in favor of holding the rallies on the evenings of June 13, July 11 and Aug. 1.

Rex Mehlberg, village parks, recreation and forestry director, said the food truck rallies will likely include six or seven trucks, while there would also be a movie in the park or a special event at the lake on the evening of the rallies with different family events taking place in the interior of the park.

“As such, with of all the fun and festivities going on, it looks like the food trucks would rather not serve drinks of any kind, whether that be water or soda or beer,” Mehlberg said. “Apparently, according to the food truck vendor that’s organizing it, it takes up a lot of space in their vehicles, and they would like to concentrate on the food. Therefore, we are requesting a beer license to be able serve beer to go along with soda and water that we will be serving.”

Mehlberg – who noted the setup for the food truck rallies would have the same concept as the annual Ashwaubenon Blast, but on a smaller scale – said village staff would be the ones serving the beer, and a specific map of the site for the rallies would be put together as the events draw closer.
