Name: Liam Golden

Parents: Matt Golden, Angela Knutson

Activity: Hockey

Liam Golden is a senior forward on the Ashwaubenon hockey team. Through the first twelve games, he has 14 points, including eleven goals.

He lists attending the Gamblers’ Clark Cup game five as his favorite event ever attended.

He likes to watch NetFlix or YouTube videos to pass the time.

What is it like to be a leader on the hockey team at Ashwaubenon High School? “It is great leading a team and seeing how far we have come since my freshman year, going from being 7-17 as a freshman, to hopefully a sectional championship contender. We are very young this year, so I have big shoes to fill with Tyler (Roethlisberger) leaving last year. I want to be a good example on and off the ice so the younger kids can become the hardest workers in the future.”

What is your most embarrassing moment ever in hockey? “When I scored against Bay Port last year. I slipped and fell on my face celebrating.”

How many years have you been involved in hockey? “14 years.”

What is your most memorable moment? “Beating Bay Port in overtime last season. It shaped our season and showed us what we were capable of.”

What’s the hardest part about performing in a hockey game? “The stress to be as good as you can, especially with your dad as a coach. You have a higher expectation to meet. You have to be a good leader because what you do affects everyone else on the ice.”

If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be? “Alex Tuch. He is my favorite hockey player.”

What is your routine before a big game starts? “I usually start out very serious being left alone. Before we go out on the ice, I gain a large burst of energy and try to get everyone pumped up and crazy before the game.”

What is one thing that other teammates or coaches don’t know about you? “I have a scar on my finger from when I was younger. A kid skated over my hand.”

What are your college aspirations? “I haven’t decided what I want to major in college, but I would like to play hockey wherever I go.”

What would your dream job be once you graduate? “Being a prosecuting attorney would be a fun occupation to have.”

What are your hobbies? “I love to play video games and spend time with my family, friends and girlfriend.”

What is your favorite type of music? “I enjoy all music. My favorites would be rap and electronic dance.”

What three words describe you? “Instinctual, lighthearted, talkative.”

What is your favorite trip ever taken? “When I went to Florida with my family for spring break.”

What is your favorite NHL team? “Vegas Golden Knights.”

What is your favorite hockey move in a game? “The backhand/forehand on a breakaway or the toe drag.”

What is your desired location to go to a hockey game anywhere in the world? “I would love to see a Swedish hockey game. The fans are crazy about their cities.”

Which do you prefer, a 1-0 game or a 12-11 game? “High scoring games keep you on your toes and cause more stress if you win by one in a back and forth game. I’d pick the 12-11 game.”

A hard check on an opposing player or sweet assist? “A hard check, because if done right, your team can get a very large boost in a tight game. Sometimes you need it.”
