Rachel Kerkhoff is a senior at De Pere High School on the girls’ basketball and softball teams.

Kerkhoff, who has been a four-year varsity player on the basketball team, is not quite sure where she will attend college yet but plans to become a pharmacist. She doesn’t think basketball is in her future at the next level.

In her spare time, Kerkhoff likes to hang out with friends and watch movies.

Her favorite Christmas movie is “Elf.”

Tell me about your family.

“I have one older brother named Collin who is 20 and attends UW-Platteville. My parents have always been from around here.”

How about a high school sport you wish you would have done or at least tried?

“I think track and field would have been.”

What’s it like playing for Coach Boileau?

“He always has us working hard and I think he’s one of the best coaches around. He has us prepared really well. He wants our defense to be better than our offense.”

You’re 5-foot-4 but often matched up against the best player from the opposition. What’s that like?

“It’s a lot of pressure because I’m usually much shorter than them, but I like the challenge and know that my team always has my back.”

What would be your most memorable sports moment?

“Definitely being on the basketball team my sophomore year when we went to state. We beat Middleton in overtime in the semifinals but lost to Appleton North in the finals.”

The team is off to a 6-0 start this season. How does this team compare to the 2016-17 state team?

“I think we are similar in the fact that we are playing for each other and we support each other on and off the court. We are like a big family.”

What are three words that best describe you?

“Funny, energetic, trustworthy.”

What’s on your music playlist?

“Mainly country, rap and pop – pretty much anything but the oldies.”

Do you have any pets?

“I have a Goldendoodle dog named Coby.”

Name three places you’d like to visit in your lifetime.

“I’d like to go to Paris, Australia and someplace in South America.”

How will Rachel Kerkhoff be remembered at De Pere?

“As someone who was nice and caring.”
