Ashwaubenon school board approves new hires, resignations

ASHWAUBENON – A series of new hires and resignations received approval Wednesday, Oct. 24, from the Ashwaubenon school board.

Matthew Schoening was formally approved as a limited-term emotional behavioral disorder/cross categorical instructor at Parkview Middle School, effective as of Oct. 5, due to a resignation.

Non-teaching staff hires receiving board approval included Heather Dembroski to a half-time educational associate position at the Cormier School and Early Learning Center, effective Sept. 17, due to a resignation.

Dembroski had previously been employed as a half-time 4K aide at Cormier. She becomes full time with the additional appointment.

Carleen Monroe has been approved as a .57 full-time equivalent educational associate for a nine-month library aide position at the middle school, effective Oct. 1, due to a resignation.

The two resignations at the middle school accepted by the board included Laure Hooper as a full-time cross categorical instructor, effective Sept. 28, and Debra Vorpahl as a .57 FTE educational associate-library aide, effective Sept. 29.

Co-curricular hires

Board members also approved 33 co-curricular positions, many of which involve winter sports at the Ashwaubenon High School.

The four positions on the list paying more than $4,000 are all head coaches.

Both Chris Karcz, head boys’ basketball coach, and Nicky VanLaanen, head girls’ basketball coach, will each be paid $4,800.

Jody Van Laanen, varsity wrestling coach, will receive $4,400.

Jim Merner, head boys’ swimming coach, will be paid $4,350.
