Lasecki finishes runner-up at WIAA state swimming meet

MADISON – Bay Port girls’ swimmer Emma Lasecki finished runner-up at the WIAA Division 1 state swimming meet in the 100-yard individual medley Nov. 10 at the Natatorium on the UW-Madison campus.

The junior Lasecki had the fastest-seeded time in the event from sectionals but was beaten by senior Grace Bennin from Verona by a little over two seconds.

Lasecki followed up her impressive swim in the IM (2:02.10) with a third-place time in the 100 butterfly (54.86), being edged out for the title by just three-tenths of a second.

Bay Port finished 14th as a team with 47 points, while Middleton won the title with an impressive 295.5 total.

De Pere finished 19th as a team, with senior Bri Zablocki taking home a seventh-place result in the 200 IM (2:05.74).

200-yard medley relay: 14, 1:50.16 (Riley Melendy, Sydney Aird, Emma Lasecki, Lacy Geurts).

200 individual medley: 2, Emma Lasecki, 2:02.10; 13, Melendy, 2:08.25.

100 butterfly: 3, Lasecki, 54.86.

100 backstroke: 13, Melendy, 57.48.

100 breaststroke: 22, Aird, 1:08.42.

400 freestyle relay: 13, 3:36.47 (Melendy, Emily Calaway, Geurts, Lasecki).

De Pere results

200 IM: 7, Bri Zablocki, 2:05.74.

100 butterfly: 5, Zablocki, 56.06.

100 freestyle: 22, Lauren Finstad, 54.04.

200 freestyle relay: 18, 1:41.21 (Jenna Finstad, Lauren Finstad, Bailey Venden, Zablocki).

400 freestyle relay: 17, 3:37.94 (J. Finstad, L. Finstad, Danika Zablocki, B. Zablocki).
