Bay Port girls’ swimming and diving team wins fifth straight conference title

SUAMICO – The Bay Port girls’ swimming and diving team has won its fifth consecutive Fox River Classic Conference title.

The Pirates outdistanced De Pere by a 527.5 to 351 margin at the Lineville Community Pool Oct. 27 to win the title.

De Pere finished second for the first time ever, while Green Bay United placed third and Ashwaubenon fourth.

Bay Port took the top two spots in the 1-meter diving competition, with Sasha Sasha Sliwinski (373.05) and Elle Thibert (358.55) having strong showings.

Other Bay Port winners include Emma Lasecki in the 200 IM (2:05.27) and the 100 butterfly (57.22), Sydney Aird in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.37) and the 400 freestyle relay team of Riley Melendy, Emily Calaway, Lacy Geurts and Lasecki (3:43.25).

Lasecki set pool records in her two victories.

De Pere’s Bri Zablocki, who recently committed to swim at UW-Milwaukee, was victorious in the 100 freestyle (54.31), while Lauren Finstad swam to a winning time of 1:58.61 in the 200 freestyle.

Ashwaubenon’s Hallory Domnick was the lone winner for the Jaguars in the 500 freestyle (5:15.72).

The swimming and diving sectionals will take place Nov. 2-3, with the WIAA state meet in Madison Nov. 9-10.

Bay Port and De Pere will compete at the D1 sectional meet in Neenah, while Ashwaubenon will host its D2 sectional.
