Severson qualifies for state golf tournament, Jaguars defeat Golden Raiders in football; Ashwaubenon Roundup

HOBART-The Bay Port Pirates defeated the Ashwaubenon Jaguars 9-0 in boys’ soccer. (Oct. 2)

The Pirates tallied four goals in the first half and added five in the remaining 45 minutes of the game.

Justin Howe notched two of the goals for Bay Port and Peyton Nichols had two assists.

Bryce Destree had five saves in net for Bay Port.

The Pirates improve to 9-5-2 on the season and the Jaguars fall to 1-13-4 on the year.

 

ANTIGO-The Jaguars girls tennis team won the Antigo SubSectional sending six flights to Sectionals. (Oct. 2)

Marisa Marohl, Emily DeLaurelle, Lily Hansford, Maddy Coopmans and Caylee Behnke, Kennedy Conradt and Courtney Behnke, and Chloe Ellis and Addy Francois all qualified.

On the day, Ashwaubenon went 11-1 in matches played.

NEW FRANKEN-Rylie Severson qualified for the WIAA State golf tournament by shooting an 81 at Royal Scot GC. (Oct. 2)

Severson fired nines of 41 and 40 which included eight pars and a birdie. She finished in style playing the last two holes in one under par to move onto University Ridge GC in Madison next week!

Number two golfer Zion Estano came within one stroke of qualifying for State herself.

After a 46 on the front nine which included two double bogies and a triple, she fought back and parred six of her last nine holes.

Estano’s 85 was one ahead of Olvia Reichardt’s of Appleton East state qualifying mark.

WIAA Green Bay Preble Girls Golf Sectional Team Results:

PULASKI-The Ashwaubenon Jaguars volleyball team defeated the Pulaski Red Raiders three games to one 25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 25-13. (Oct 2)

Maria Scherer had 43 assists, and Maddie Koch had 27 kills, 14 digs, and 4 aces.

In addition, Maddie Crowley had 11 kills and 18 digs, and Paige Barry 15 digs.

The Jaguars remain in first place in the FRCC with a 6-0 mark.

 

SEYMOUR-Ashwaubenon’s Randy Johnson finished 6th out of 179 competitors running a 16:55 at the Seymour Cross Country Invitational Thursday afternoon. (Oct. 4)

In addition, Nick Johnson notched a top 15 finish by averaging a 5:35 mile.

The Jaguars finished 18th out of 26 teams

SHEBOYGAN-The Ashwaubenon Jaguars powered past the Sheboygan North Golden Raiders by a final of 46-27. (Oct. 5)

The Jaguars had over 400 yards of total offense.

Jaguars Quarterback Cadian Vang was 10 of 11 for 135 yards and threw for three touchdowns.

Jonathan Maldonado ran for 141 yards on just 14 carries, and Cam Wheeler added 79 yards.

Luke Jacobs, Luke Schroeder, and Maldonado each had a touchdown reception.

For the Golden Raiders, Isaiah Love-Beringer ran for 177 yards and a touchdown, and Turner Kraus added two scores on the ground.

The Jaguars built a 20-0 lead late in the first quarter after Ashwaubenon defensive end Evan VandenElzen scooped up a fumble and rumbled into the end zone.

Ashwaubenon’s lead extended to 40-7 after Vang connected on back to back pitch and catch touchdowns.

The Golden Raiders scored two late touchdowns to trim the final margin to 19 points after reserves were in.

The Jaguars will need to win their final game versus the Sheboygan South Redwings on homecoming week to ensure a playoff berth is secure.
