Jaguars advance to WIAA Girls Golf Sectional

LEDGEVIEW-The Ashwaubenon Jaguars girls golf team finished third at the De Pere Regional Wednesday afternoon held at Ledgeview golf course. (Sept. 26)

With a score of 425, the Jaguars advance to the Sectionals held next Tuesday at Royal Scot GC in New Franken.

Number one golfer Rylie Severson got off to a rough start going triple bogey, double bogey, and triple bogey on her first three holes.

However, Severson battled back and showed the true grit of being the top player on a high school team by finishing the front nine with a 49.

On the back side, Severson parred 14 and 18 to come home in 45 strokes and finish with a 94 on the day.

Number two golfer Zion Estano shot 104 that included a back nine of 48.

“I though the girls did very well today,” said Kevin Penza, Ashwaubenon girls golf coach. “There were a lot of ups and downs, but they were determined to finish strong and make it to Sectionals. The greens were tough as usual, and the conditions of the course were pretty difficult to start with the wind and cold temperatures. I am very proud of their performance.”

The West De Pere Phantom’s lady golfers finished with a 485 on the day.

It was good enough for a seventh-place finish.

Junior Aria Van De Hei led the charge with nines of 58, and 51.

Lily Sheppard of Kaukauna took home medalist honors on the day with an 84.
