Jonathan Maldonado scores game winning touchdown for Jaguars: Ashwaubenon/West De Pere Roundup

DE PERE- The Jaguars tennis team prevailed over the Manitowoc Ships by a final of 4-3 held at Cornerstone Sports Complex. (Sept. 17)

Singles:

1 Jenna Piaskowski (Man) over Marisa Marohl (Ash), 7-5, 6-4.

2 Natasha Schiegg (Ash) over Caroline Ramminger (Man), 6-0, 6-1.

3 Delaney Brockman (Man) over Emily DeLaurelle (Ash), 6-4, 6-4.

4 Lily Hansford (Ash) over McKenna Pleuss (Man), 6-2, 6-0.

Doubles:

1 Allyson Verbauwhede/Kendra Peterson (Man) over Maddy Coopmans/Caylee Behnke (Ash), 6-1, 6-1.

2 Courtney Behnke/Kennedy Conradt (Ash) over Isabella Wergin/Elsie Steimle (Man), 6-3, 7-5.

3 Chloe Ellis/Addy Francois (Ash) over Gretchen Henry/Clara Powalisz (Man), 6-1, 6-2.

WHITEWATER-Kennedy Hauser, a graduate of Ashwaubenon High School, is once again competing on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater womenโ€™s cross-country team for the 2018 season.

Hauser is majoring in biology.

She placed fourth on the team at both postseason races in 2017 and posted a career best of 23:04.4 at the NCAA Midwest Regional.

Head Coach Jeff Miller is in his 35th season with the womenโ€™s program.

MANITOWOC-The Ashwaubenon Jaguars football team won a defensive battle (13-10) over the Manitowoc Ships Friday evening at Ron Rubick municipal field. (Sept. 21)

Jaguars quarterback Cadian Vang completed 11 of 19 passes for 78 yards.

Jon Maldonado led the Jaguars rushing attack with 69 yards and Camden Wheeler added 36 hard earned yards.

Sam Nooyen snagged six catches for 48 yards to lead the Jaguarโ€™s receiving core.

The Jaguars stout defense held the Ships to under 80 yards of total offense.

The Ships struck first with a 32-yard field goal in the second quarter which ended up being the only points scored in the half.

The Jaguars put together a third quarter drive in which Vang went in from six yards out to put Ashwaubenon back in front 7-3.

It was short lived, however, as Manitowoc quarterback Josh Hoffman found Alex Braun from 20 yards out to give the Ships the lead entering the fourth quarter.

In the final quarter, the Jaguars regained the lead a second time after Maldonado went in from six yards out.

The Jaguars held the Ships on the final drive to improve to 3-3 on the season with games versus Sheboygan North, Sheboygan South, and Pulaski still left on the schedule.

APPLETON-The Ashwaubenon Jaguars volleyball team improved to 21-4 on the season by defeating the Hortonville Polar Bears by a final of 25-21, 25-15. (Sept. 22)

West De Pere

GREEN BAY-The West De Pere Phantoms girls tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to the Green Bay Preble Hornets in non-conference action. (Sept. 17)

The Phantoms prevailed at three and four singles, but the Hornets captured two of the three doubles matches.

1 Mai Nou Vang/Mai Vang (Gbp) over Emily Dorn/Lorraine Qui (Wdp), 6-0, 6-0.

2 Kymberly Coolidge/Katie Wiesner (Wdp) over Renae VandenPlas/Taylor Wagner (Gbp), 0-6, 6-1, 6-0.

3 Grace Flood/Faith Prokash (Gbp) over Olivia Williams/Keilani Nishimoto (Wdp), 6-2, 6-2.

APPLETON- The West De Pere boys soccer team continued their winning ways by defeating the Appleton Xavier Hawks by a final of 2-1 (Sept. 18)

Parker Nimmer had an early goal that was assisted by Garrett Schneider.

With the score 1-1, Sawyer Grovogel found Dillon Davidsonโ€™s header that went into the back of the net to give the Phantoms the go-ahead goal.

Evan Rinke had 11 saves in net for West De Pere who improve to 5-2 on the season.

DE PERE-The West De Pere Phantoms defeated the Green Bay Southwest Trojans 25-20, 25-20 in girlsโ€™ volleyball action. (Sept.22)
