What is it like to be a leader on the volleyball team at Ashwaubenon High School? “I love being a leader on the team. Volleyball is one of the things I love most, and I do what I can to show everyone in the younger grades how passionate I am. Also, it’s so cool to look back on my freshman year and the kind of player I was then to the player and leadership role I have taken over now.”

What is your most embarrassing moment ever in volleyball? “One of my most embarrassing moments was during a match against Seymour last season.  I was in serve-receive waiting to pass the serve when I thought the ball was going out of bounds. I tried to duck out of the way, so the ball wouldn’t hit me. Well, not only would the ball have landed in, but it bounced right on top of my back.”

How many years have you been involved in volleyball? “I started playing volleyball in middle school. Seventh grade was my first year.”

What is your most memorable moment? “My most memorable moment was when we beat De Pere at home for the first time last season. This was a game we talked about all year and every single one of us was so motivated to do what we could to win that game. We put in a lot of work, strategy, and even recruited our student section. It felt so good that we were able to come together and accomplish something so big for Ashwaubenon volleyball.”

What’s the hardest part about performing in a volleyball competition? “I think the hardest part about volleyball is not letting the other team go on runs of multiple points. Everything can be going great, but as soon as the other team earns a couple points it’s easy to get frustrated or down on yourself. You have to remember that in volleyball, there are many chances to earn points back and get the momentum back in your favor.”

If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be? “There’s not one specific person that comes to mind, but I would like to be someone who travels to many different countries and all parts of the world. I would like to see and experience as much as I can while also learning about their culture.”

What is your sports routine before a big game starts? “I don’t necessarily have one set routine for every game, but for every home match we watch JV play as a team before going to the locker room. In there we play music, get warmed up, and do the same cheer in the hallway before we go out.”

Do you have a nickname or something a teammate calls you during a game? “Almost everyone including my coaches call me Crowley. I think this is mainly a result of there being two Maddies on the team.”

What is one thing that other teammates or coaches don’t know about you? “I was on a competitive cheerleading team for a few years before I started playing volleyball.”

Winning individual honors or a big team win? “Big team win. Besides De Pere, a significant accomplishment was winning our home tournament two years ago. It was a long day, we faced many good teams, and it was something we could be proud of.”

What are your college aspirations? “I am still not sure where I’m going to college; however, I know I’d like to study health education.”

What would your dream job be once you graduate? “I would love to get a job in nutrition science. It would be great to work with athletes designing plans to help them achieve peak performance.”

What are your hobbies? “I love to hang-out with my friends, travel with my family, spend time at my cabin, and attend other sporting events.”

What is your favorite event ever attended? “Going to Wisconsin volleyball games. It’s really fun to watch a sport you know so much about. Plus, I usually go with my friends/teammates which makes it even better.”

What is your favorite type of music? “I like listening to lots of genres. I mostly listen to pop and country.”

What is your favorite thing to do on your phone? “I mainly use my phone for Snapchat, Instagram, and the internet.”

What three words describe you? “Hardworking, easygoing, responsible”

What is your favorite trip ever taken? “Over spring-break, I took a trip with my family to Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. We went skiing, hiked in a national park, and got lots of time in the sun. It was great to be able to cover so many areas in one trip.”
