ASHWAUBENON – Five Ashwaubenon High School students will be performing at the WMEA State Music Conference in Madison next October.
Students selected for the State Honors Project from AHS this year are: Sarah Gregory, Madeline Miner, and Kate Stenson, who will all sing in the State Honors Treble Choir; Sam Stanko, who will perform on trumpet with the Wisconsin State Honors Orchestra; and Hannah Swan, who will be playing bassoon with the Wisconsin State Honors Band.
The concerts will be held in the Madison Overture Center.
The Wisconsin Honors Music Project offers talented youth the opportunity to rehearse and perform with nationally-known conductors in a professional setting.
High School Honors students sight-read their music at a three-day Summer Camp held on the UW-Green Bay campus and will then rehearse again in Madison before the fall concerts.
Students selected for the Honors program must be a member of their school music performing groups.
The judges recommend a placement for each student based solely on the audition performance.
A “highly recommended” student is described as “A potential section leader, and an outstanding musician. One of the best!”
