LA CROSSE – The Bay Port track and field teams had a successful showing at the WIAA D1 state meet in La Crosse June 1-2.

The top performance was from senior pole vaulter Olivia Mabry, who jumped to a fifth-place podium spot with her 11-06.00 height. Mabry improved on her sixth place from last year. De Pere’s Olivia Fabry won the state championship with a height of 12-6.00.

Senior Bailey Cisar finished 22nd in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.99, but did not make the finals. Milwaukee King’s Amar Brown (sophomore) won the competition in 24.65.

Senior Savannah Huben, a three-time state qualifier, finished off her career by placing 12th in the 800 with a time of 2:20.75. Haleigh Reindl (Waterford) won the race in 2:09.66.

Another impressive performance was put in by freshman Ella Meeuwsen in the high jump. Meeuwsen tied for ninth with her jump of 5-04.00, but five other girls had the same height. Tiebreakers are decided by the number of misses a participant has during the competition.

The boys 4×400 relay team of Mitchell Merhalski (freshman), Garrett Mooren (senior), Nick Key (senior) and Sam Plumb (sophomore) placed 11th in 3:25.48. The foursome missed out on the finals by .48 seconds. The team from Oak Creek had a winning time of 3:19.67.
