ASHWAUBENON-For the second straight game, the Jaguars girls soccer team tied an opponent in the FRCC (May 15).

This time the Green Bay Southwest Trojans came to Ashwaubenon and both teams scored a goal apiece (1-1).

Things didn’t appear to be headed that way for the home team just five minutes into the contest.

Forward Lexi Siegle took a pass from Gabby LeClair and popped home the first goal of the evening to give the Trojans an early 1-0 lead on the Jaguars.

The Trojans had multiple looks in the next few minutes, but Jaguars goaltender Breanna Adamczak turned each shot away.

The Jaguars received their first corner kick 15 minutes in but didn’t get a look in on goal.

Later in the game with just seven minutes remaining till halftime, Trojans midfielder Kiara Thomas sent a rocket in from 15 yards, but Adamczak was there to punch the ball out of play.

With just two minutes left till the intermission, the Jaguars Haley Ehmke busted up field and had a breakaway path on goaltender Tori Ellis.

Somehow the ball rolled up to Ellis at the last minute preserving the shutout for the Trojans.

After 45 minutes of action, the Trojans had a one goal lead.

The Jaguars had been outshot 10-4 in the opening stanza.

The second half saw the Jaguars playing with more energy and pep in their step to start.

Just 1:12 into the second half, Jaguars forward Laure-Elise Breyne was run into near the Trojans goal and the Jaguars were awarded a penalty kick for the mishap.

Lydia Schaible tied the contest up at one all when she found the left side of the netting.

For the next 10 minutes, the Jaguars got to every 50/50 ball and played a very physical brand of soccer.

“We played much better soccer in the second half,” commented Rick Kremer, Jaguars Soccer Coach. “We got called for a couple of fouls, but it showed the girls were getting after it on both sides of the ball.”

Addy Francois, Norah Kinsman, and Jayme Kiser kept attacking the Trojans defense by continually getting looks in from 20 yards and in but none found the net.

With the score deadlocked at 1-1, the Trojans had a good look in the 72^nd minute where there was much congestion around the Jaguars goal, but the defense managed to clear.

The last four minutes produced a ‘golden look’ for both teams to surge ahead.

The Jaguars received the first when Schaible took a corner kick and goaltender Adamczak came out of goal as an extra attacker.

The shot, however, went right of its intended target and the Trojans escaped.

The Jaguars dodged the last bullet when Taylor Johnson kicked the ball into the Jaguars net with just a minute to go, but the head official called the Trojans for offsides.

The game ended seconds later with each team producing a point for the tie.

“We’ve generated four goals the past two games,” Kremer said. “I’m happy that we are starting to take better angles on and off the ball. It’s paying off.”

For the contest, the Jaguars outshot the Trojans by a margin of 18-15.
