ASHWAUBENON-The Jaguars boys tennis team won all three doubles matches en route to a 6-1 victory over the Sheboygan South Redwings in FRCC action. (May 8)

“I was really impressed with our doubles today,” commented Scott Conradt, Jaguars Tennis Coach. “To come out and drop only four games the entire day showed just how far these six guys have come the past month or so.”

The number two doubles team of Grant Atwood and Alex Steinfest improved to 5-2 on the year with a convincing straight sets victory.

Time and time again, the duo hit serves that were unreturnable.

Atwood hit 12 groundstroke winners for the match, and Steinfest 14 volleys that were not touched by Sheboygan South.

The number three duo of Aidan Christensen and Justin Heller got back to their winning ways after a tough stretch of matches within the conference.

The pair used their serve and volley game to drop only three games against the Redwings pair of Henry and Lentine Lee.

On the singles side, Senior Sam Spika got his sixth victory of the season.

During one rally, Spika engaged in a fifty-two hit rally in which he won.

Other varsity winners included Jacob Hanson at number one singles who raised his record to 8-4, Bailey Conradt, and the number one doubles team of Senior Kole Kolinski and Freshman Colin Chapman who breezed through their match in 37 minutes. The duo lost just 11 points in the entire match.

“We have won two conference matches in a row,” Conradt said. “I feel like the momentum is back on our side after opening up with the top three teams in our conference to start the season. Hopefully, we can gain one more victory this week against our Red Raider rivals and then next week with our final duals.”

The Jaguars improve to 4-3 overall and will travel to Pulaski May 10.
