Ashwaubenon High School ‘School of Rock’ nominated for Center Stage Awards

ASHWAUBENON – The Ashwaubenon High School performance of “School of Rock” has been nominated for Outstanding Overall Production by the Center Stage Group.

In addition, three Ashwaubenon High School students also received nominations for the Center Stage High School Musical Theater Awards.

The cast will perform one song from their recent production at the May 19 Awards Showcase in Appleton at the Fox Cities PAC.

The Center Stage awards program seeks to recognize and celebrate the achievements of high school theater programs in Northeast Wisconsin.

This year, 17 local high schools participated in this awards program.

Ashwaubenon High School was one of four schools nominated for Outstanding Overall Production for their November performances of the musical “School of Rock.”

The musical was directed by Bernie Rocheleau (drama, stage and technical director), Helen Marcks (creative director and producer), Kari Devine (pit band director), Brandon Rockstroh (choral director), George Reynolds (set design director), and Ali Carlson (choreographer).

Three more nominations were awarded to individual Ashwaubenon High School students for their performances in “School of Rock.” Logan Zills was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actor for his role as Dewey Finn.

Jon Geniesse received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor for his role as Zack Mooneyham, while Briah Larson’s role as Summer Hathaway got her a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actress.

The Center Stage High School Theater Awards Showcase will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at the Fox Cities PAC. Tickets for the event go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 4.
