Jaguars look to keep the ball in the short grass: Golf Preview

ASHWAUBENON-The Jaguars boys golf team is coming off an 8th place finish in the FRCC in 2017.

“Our conference is really good with three of the top 10 teams,” said Jaguars Golf Coach Craig Hoiska. “I would be very happy with a top half finish.”

The Jaguars finished one spot out of Team Sectionals after they shot 335 at Regionals one year ago.

Three Seniors are gone from that group, but Individual Sectional Qualifier Tyler Roethlisberger is back.

“I went to Alabama and Arizona to play golf over our school vacations,” said Roethlisberger.

“I played some really difficult courses to keep my game sharp and ready for the season.”

Mark Teske and Brett Powers are two additional golfers that saw varsity time last year and will be asked to fill bigger roles.

“I expect big things from Tyler this year,” Hoiska added. “He finished strong last year and will be our leader on and off the golf course. We have a lot of new players so teaching the skills and building the relationship with the kids along the way will be fun.”
