Jaguars Softball improves to 4-0 on season

By Murray Gleffe, Correspondent

SHEBOYGAN- With the sun out, and temperatures rising into the 50s, the Jaguars softball team traveled down I-43 to Sheboygan (South) and picked up an impressive 16-0 victory over the Redwings. (April 11)

The team carried the momentum from their Florida swing right into conference play.

The Jaguars shot out of the gates in the top of the first with an amazing 10 runs! The half-inning lasted almost thirty minutes with the Jaguars bats crushing hit after hit.

The Jaguars cranked out two additional runs in the second, and then put the game away in the third with four more runs.

The game was halted after the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.

The green and gold had 8 hits and 13 RBIโ€™s on 22 at bats.

Alexa Blasczyk had both a triple and double.

In addition, she scored two runs and contributed three RBIโ€™s.

Freshman Anna Wendorf made her Wisconsin debut by batting 1.000 for the day.

Perhaps the most impressive stat of the evening was Josie Hilbert scoring three runs with only one registered at bat.

Katelynn Cleveland pitched a perfect game striking out six in 5 innings of play.

โ€œI was pleased that we came out to play from the first pitch,โ€ said Shannon VanLaanen, Jaguars Softball Coach. โ€œI thought we showed good depth today going 14 strong.โ€
