Have you ever done any other sports in high school besides basketball? “I did golf my freshman year – I liked it a lot, but I just chose not to compete anymore. I still love the game and play for fun.”

How about a sport you wish you could have done? “Probably soccer or football. Due to my heart condition I had to give up football.”

Heart condition? “Long story short, I had a valve in the back of my heart that was shrinking. I found out when I was almost four and had surgery for it. I had shortness of breath and my activity was low. I went to the Children’s Hospital for about two weeks. I still have a scar on my back. I still have to keep an eye on it with regular checkups.”

But the prognosis is good for a long, healthy life? “Yes. I have some scar tissue, but we just have to keep an eye on it.”

So why no football, but you can play basketball? “Just because of the physical nature of football and the injury risk.”

Do you come from a sports family? “My dad did baseball, football and basketball in high school near Milwaukee. My mom was a cheerleader and played tennis, while my two older brothers played sports here at Bay Port.”

Expectations are high for the team this year! “We want to see how far we can go. I believe we can get to Madison and we can win it. We have to play as team – I know we can – and work hard. We’ve known each other for a long time. Expectations are high, but this team likes the bright lights.”

Do you have a most memorable sports moment? “It’s kind of weird, but being state runner-up in the seventh grade. We always thought about ending our careers our senior year – now it’s finally upon us.”

How about a most embarrassing one? “A few summers ago in an AAU basketball game, I had four air balls in a row on three pointers. I ended up hitting a couple of three’s after that, but it was pretty embarrassing. I was getting chirped at pretty hard from people in the crowd.”

What superhero would you be? “Spider-Man, 100 percent. When I had surgery, I got Spiderman everything. Everyone has their own special power to them.”

Name a movie you’re afraid to admit you like! “Clueless – it’s a chick flick! It’s about this rich, preppy girl. I get a kick out of that movie.”

How about a song you’re afraid to admit you like? “That would definitely be ‘Too Good at Goodbyes’ by Sam Smith.”

If you could have lunch with any person, who would it be? “Coach (Mike) Krzyzewski (from Duke). I’d like to pick his brain. I think he’s the greatest college basketball coach of all time.”

Why not go to Duke for college? “I’m not that smart! That’s like Isaac Krause and Alec Nagel (basketball teammates) smart!”

How fast could you do a Rubik’s Cube? “In 30-40 seconds!”

And you could still do it now? “Yes, but it would take me over a minute now. It’s like riding a bike, though…you just pick it right back up.”

I want a video of that! “I’ll make it happen!”

Carpet or hardwood? “Carpet.”
Tree house or tiny house? “Tree house.”
Pizza or spaghetti? “Pizza.”
Read the book or watch the movie? “Watch the movie.”
Lie on the beach or ski down the slopes? “Lie on the beach.”

What three words best describe you? “Loud, energetic, dedicated.”

Do you have any bad habits? “I like to rub my hands and fix my hair.”

How will Danny King be remembered at Bay Port? “Loud, energetic and that I had a lot of school pride. I try to go to all the events and show my spirit. I truly believe students should go to the games and support the teams.”

What will you miss most about Bay Port? “All my friends and the environment here. I’ll miss being energetic around people.”
