SUAMICO – The Bay Port boys’ swimming team has taken to the water five times this season for competition. After its 132-38 Fox River Classic Conference win over Pulaski Dec. 19, they have still yet to lose.

The Pirates won 9 of 11 events at the Lineville Community Pool on their way to improving to 3-0 in FRCC dual meet action. Bay Port also won the Oshkosh West and Appleton West Invites earlier this season.

“All of our dual meets are training meets,” said Bay Port head coach Steve Jeffers. “I consider them one of our speed workouts for the week. I forget how seniors can really blossom and turn to men during the season. We have nine of them – it’s nice. We have a very deep team and probably have more depth than I even thought coming into the season. The guys are pushing each other and are getting faster.”

Alec Jeffers, Griffin Hawley and Calvin Schilz were double individual winners, while all three relay teams were also victorious.

“Pulaski is not a very big team, so we put a couple of good relays together to challenge them,” Jeffers added. “Senior Isiah Konopacki had an awesome meet. He looked great, that despite the boys swimming over 10,000 yards in the last 24 hours leading up to this meet. He stood out to me. Some of the guys that were a little soft last week improved (Tuesday). I was really happy with it.”

The Pirates are off from competition until Thursday, Dec. 28 when they travel to Homestead High School for a 16-team invite.
