ASHWAUBENON – It was a little windy, but that didn’t stop the first day of the Packers’ Winter Jubilee being a huge success.

Titletown began its first Winter Jubilee celebration at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, with speakers and a ribbon cutting ceremony.

After that it was the debut of the ice skating rink, grand opening of 46 Below bistro and Rockwood Terrace event space and the inaugural Winter Jubilee Light Show.

President and CEO of the Packers Mark Murphy, thanked the crowd who was there to kick of the event.

He said this grand opening turned Titletown into a winter wonderland with the ice skating rink, ice sculptures, lights, light show and a visit from Santa.

Murphy said he was excited to see Rockwood Terrace open, an event space that can be rented. He told the crowd that the 46 Below bistro was a café open to the public by the ice skating rink.

He said it was named 46 Below because the wind chill was 46 below in the ice bowl and the café is 46 feet below the top of the tubing hill.

Murphy highlighted the Winter Jubilee Light Show that was being offered.

It will take place most Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from Nov. 30 until Dec. 30.

The light show is a blend of holiday themed lights projected on to the walls of the stadium.

While the lights are being projected, there is music, special effects, animation, lasers and fireworks.

Murphy told the crowd that it may seem strange, but he is rooting for cold and snow.

The tubing hill cannot open until there has been below freezing weather for a couple of days.

Murphy thanked all those involved in making the investment of Titletown park a success.

He concluded by saying, “I am really excited about the winter activities offered. I hope everybody enjoys the winter activities and it makes the long, cold winter much shorter.”

Ashwaubenon village president, Mary Kardoskee also spoke.

She told the crowd she was at a game in town sitting next to a Baltimore Raven’s fan.

He told her what the Green Packers have done is remarkable.

He said he has been in a lot of cities and again said, “This is remarkable.”

She said she wanted everybody to enjoy the wonderful area and bring their families out to enjoy the winter wonderland.

All Winter Jubilee events are open to the public. All activities are free unless otherwise noted.

Children will again get a chance to visit with Santa from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 16 at Titletown.

Ice sculpting will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday Dec. 8, Friday, Dec. 15 and Fri. Dec. 22.

With winter activities beginning, the park at Titletown will remain open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Titletown’s game courts and playground will be closed for the season, but the field and plaza will remain open for winter activities.
