Department presented with bobby hats

HOBART – The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department was presented with some new gear, just don’t expect to see it in the line of duty any time soon.

The department was given some bobby helmets on Nov. 21 from John Flannery, associate dean of public safety, police fire and correction academies at NWTC.

The college hosted an international public safety conference in August and the HLPD answered the call.

“Out of all the police agencies in Brown County, Hobart-Lawrence stepped up,” Flannery said. “The time they were working, they volunteered that time to help us. We can’t say enough.”

As part of the conference law enforcement officers from the Caribbean and the United Kingdom, went on ride alongs with the department and were exposed to how officers handle things here.

“Even to this day we keep getting inquiries from those agencies down there and in the UK as to when they can come back and they want to have Hobart-Lawrence there again,” Flannery said.

To show his thanks Flannery presented two bobby helmets from the Cambridgeshire Constabulary, to the department.
