ASHWAUBENON-The Jaguar hockey team is coming off a 10-15-1 mark. That record includes winning four of their last six games of the season including a first round upset win over the De Pere Redbirds in the Regional Quarterfinals.

The Jaguars, however, will have to replace a lot of its scoring but do return some solid pieces and have added some key foreign exchange students.

Jaguar Head Coach Matt Golden, “ We’re going to be young this year. We lost a lot of from last year, but I’m excited what the new group will bring to the table.”

Ten of the seventeen players on the current roster are new to the varsity lineup

Forwards Tyler Roethlisberger (Senior) and Liam Golden (Junior) each contributed 19 points during the regular season last year, and both will be logging major minutes on the first line.

Golden adds, “One of our strengths I feel like this year will be our d-core. We have Manders and Dorn back, but add in 6’6, 250 lb Matej Palfy, and Riley Nissen to give us even more depth at that position.”

Defensemen Graham Manders and Parker Dorn return to anchor the backline for the team. Each netted over 10 points on the 2016-17 season and both will be counted on to stop attacking forwards from the opposing team.

Matt Piontkowski and Timothy Svetlichnyy will be between the pipes this year. Each will have to step up big in goal to replace the production David Michaelson put forth the past couple of seasons.

“I feel like Notre Dame and Bay Port will once again be strong. My hope is that by midseason we can be right in the mix” says Golden.
