ASHWAUBENON-Ashwaubenon Jaguar Senior Autumn Schlader had her moment Wednesday afternoon when she signed a Division II basketball scholarship to Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Over 100 people were in attendance to witness the official signature take place in the lobby of the Ashwaubenon Fieldhouse.

A little after 3:00, Schlader made it count with her John Hancock; with family by her side.

“I owe this moment to my parents, coaches, teachers, and teammates. Thank you so much for believing in me.” said Schlader.

Schlader is coming off an impressive junior season in which she averaged a team best 11.2 points per game on a squad that won sixteen of its twenty-four games.

With five starters back, she hopes to leave her mark on the Jaguar court before heading off to the home of the Dragons.

Equally as impressive, the Dragons are coming off a 24-5 mark in 2016-17 in which at one point they ripped off 15 straight wins. The team advanced all the way to the NCAA Division II Regionals where they lost to 19th ranked Central Missouri.

Schlader adds, “It just blows my mind that I have come this far after playing so very little in my first AAU game years ago. There is no doubt that’s where (Moorhead) I wanted to be when I visited.  I loved everything about the university.”

This year’s Dragon team has only three seniors and she hopes to make an impact on the team when she arrives on campus in the summer of 2018.

Schlader is excited to start her new journey next year playing under the NCAA limelight.

“I’m going to arrive on campus and give it my all. Coach Nelson will determine what that role is, and I will continue to fight and learn each and every day I’m there.” commented Schlader
