Domnick wins the 500 Yard Free

By Murray Gleffe, Correspondent

ASHWAUBENON-Freshman Hallory Domnick came into the Fox River Classic Conference Swim Tournament as an underdog in her favorite event; the 500 Yard Free.

Domnick turned the tables on Pulaski’s Rachel Stumpf Saturday afternoon by winning the race by a whopping six seconds and setting a personal record! And by the way she defeated 19 other swimmers in the event as well.

Domnick swam the final 50 meters in 30.97 of a 20-lap swim to win the gold medal.

She also placed 2nd in the 200 Yard Free just behind Redbird standout Bri Zablocki.

Senior Emma Steffel had a very good showing as well at the Ashwaubenon Community Pool.

Emma Steffel talking with coaches

She placed 3rd in the 50 Yard Free and 100 Yard Backstroke, and was part of two relay teams (200 Medley and 400 Free) that finished 2nd.

Overall, the Jaguar swim team finished 2nd at the conference meet with 439 points and they will be back in action when they host the Division 2 WIAA Sectional next weekend to see who advances to the State Tournament held Nov. 10 and 11 in Madison
