Name        Nolan Reese

Sport         Football

What is it like to be a leader on the football team at Ashwaubenon? “It is great to be recognized as a leader on the team. As a leader, I am expected keep the team on task during practice and during the games. Being a leader also involves teaching the younger kids about the tradition of Ashwaubenon football. Everyone looks up to you as someone that will do the right thing on and off the field.”

What is your most embarrassing moment ever in football? “My most embarrassing moment was during my sophomore year on JV playing left tackle. There was a defensive end playing over me. It was a pass play, so I kicked backwards. I tripped over my own feet, and ended up on my back, not touching anyone. That ended in our quarterback getting hit for a sack.”

How many years have you been involved in football? “I have been in football for eight years in total. I started in 5th grade at Waunakee, near Madison. Then, my family moved to Green Bay. I played from 6th to 8th grade with the Allouez Buccaneers. During the last four years, I have been a member of the Ashwaubenon Jaguars.”

What is your most memorable moment in football? “My most memorable moment came last year against Southwest. It was definitely the highest scoring game that I have ever been a part of. The final score ended with the Jaguars on top 63-56.”

What’s the hardest aspect about football? “The hardest aspect about football is knowing that the team is only guaranteed nine games. Everyone puts in countless hours in the weight room and on the field in the off season, and we know that it is all for a very short season. I would not change a minute of the work though, because it is all to be more prepared than your opponent.”

If you could be somebody for one day, who would it be? “If I could be someone for one day, it would be Jay Leno. He has one of the most impressive car collections in the country, and I am a car enthusiast. It would be amazing to drive all of the cars in his garage.”

What are your college aspirations? “In college, I am looking to pursue a degree in petroleum engineering.”

What would be your dream job once you graduate? “My dream job would be working in Alaska or somewhere cold for an oil company. I really like to design and build models, so that would be a great job!”

What are your hobbies? “I spend most of my free time outdoors or watching football. I like to work on anything with a motor. I also ride my ATV almost every weekend.”

What is your favorite sporting event ever attended? “My favorite event attended was the 2014 NFC Divisional Playoff against Dallas. The Packers won 26-21. That was my first playoff game, so it was very memorable.”

What is your favorite kind of music? “I don’t really have a favorite type of music, as I typically just listen to whatever is on the radio, as long as it isn’t country.”

What is your favorite thing to do on your phone? “What I do the most on my phone is talk to friends. I can also be found frequently playing some type of racing game.”

What three words best describe you? “Hardworking, kind, and motivated”

What is your favorite trip(s) ever taken? “My favorite trip was in Maine. We stayed in a little town called Round Pond with some friends. It was a very relaxing trip. I also got to go out on a lobster boat, and help the captain pull up lobster traps.”

Comments from Head Football Coach Mark Jonas, “Nolan is a terrific young man. He is motivated in school and sports. He has a great family, and is a awesome leader.  He wants to go into petroleum or mining engineering and will do spectacular work in that field. We will miss him on multiple levels next year, but mostly because of what a quality person he is.”
