Name:             Addie Van Vreede

Sport:              Volleyball

Twitter:          @addievanvreede

What is it like to be a leader on the volleyball team at Ashwaubenon? “Being a leader on the Ashwaubenon varsity volleyball team allows me to teach what I have learned throughout my six years playing volleyball to the younger players in the program but also allows me to learn from them.”

What is your most embarrassing moment ever in volleyball? “My most embarrassing moment while playing volleyball is when I was in 7th grade and I was going to serve and the ball hit one of the girls on my team in the back!”

How many years have you been involved in volleyball? “I started playing volleyball when I was about 7 years old just doing camps through different programs but I really got involved in 7th grade when the Ashwaubenon volleyball program first starts. I have been playing ever since.”

What is your most memorable moment in volleyball? “My most memorable moment was probably this year when our varsity team defeated De Pere for the first time in history. It was the most intense game of the season but also the most rewarding.”

What is the hardest aspect about volleyball? “The hardest aspect of volleyball for me is being able to shake off an error. Everyone makes mistakes but when you are trying to win the game not only for yourself but your teammates as well sometimes it’s hard to get out of that mental state.”

If you could be somebody for one day, who would it be? “If I could be someone else for one day I would want to be my mom to experience what it’s like to have such great children! Also, because I look up to her in every way possible and hope one day I can be as great of a person as she is!”

What are your college aspirations? “After high school I am planning to go to college. I’m undecided as to what major I plan on going for, but I do have alot of ideas.”

What would be your dream job once you graduate? “My dream job would be to do something in the health field combined with self-care such as a cosmetic dermatologist.”

What are your hobbies? “My hobbies include volleyball, playing with my two dogs, and hanging out with friends.”

What is your favorite sporting event ever attended? “My favorite sporting event I’ve attended is watching teams play at state each year, especially when I was younger and could see what these girls worked up to throughout their years. It’s really fun to watch and be up close and personal with some of the best teams in the state.”

What is your favorite kind of music? “I like any music that is pop or just your general songs played on the radio.”

What is your favorite thing to do on your phone? “My favorite thing to do on my phone is to go on twitter or instagram and see what all my friends are up to.”

What three words best describe you? “Determined, resourceful and optimistic.”

What is your favorite trip(s) ever taken? “My favorite trip I’ve ever taken was my trip to Hawaii when I was in 6th grade.”

Jaguar Head Volleyball Coach Megan Wierschke, “Addie has been fun to have in the gym over the last four years. She has been a stabilizer in the program. It’s easy for the youngers to look up to her, as she can always formulate words or actions to help anyone out. Overall, she’s such a strong go-getter. I had the pleasure of coaching Addie on JV and now Varsity. She has grown so much as a player and person, and I’m thankful that the we got to have the pleasure of her coming through our program.”
