Pirates Run Wild in Win Over Jaguars; Take on Pulaski Friday

ASHWAUBENON – Bay Port rushed for 456 yards in a 48-21 Fox River Classic Conference victory over Ashwaubenon on September 8 at Goelz Field.
Quarterback Isaac Krause ran for 153 yards and three touchdowns, Jacob Calawerts had 217 on 28 carries and Isaiah Gash added 78 on 10 attempts.
Krause also added two passing TDs on 8-of-15 passing for 120 yards, as No. 4 ranked Bay Port amassed a whopping 576 total yards in offense and improved to 4-0 overall.
Calawerts, who came into the game with 204 yards on the ground in the first three games, rushed for that much in the first half alone against the Jaguars (1-3).
Bay Port jumped out to a 28-0 lead halfway through the second quarter on touchdowns by Jack Plumb, Cordell Tinch, Ryan Smith and Calawerts.
The Jaguars struck twice in the last six minutes of the half to gain some momentum going into the break.
Ashwaubenon then scored early in the second half when Alex Stanko rumbled 78 yards for a score to make it 28-21.
Krause then took over on the ground, scoring all three of his TDs to end the game.
Tinch had 6 receptions for 115 yards to lead Bay Port.
The Pirates’ defense held the Jaguars to 273 total yards of offense, while Matt Barnard had a fumble recovery.
Bay Port had over twice as many first downs (18-8) and held on to the ball nearly twice as long (31:26 to 16:34).
The Pirates had a significant amount of injuries, most notably from Plumb and defensive back Alec Nagel. Their status for Friday’s game is not known at this time.

Pulaski preview: the Pirates will host Pulaski (2-2) Friday, September 15… the Red Raiders were a 24-21 loser to Notre Dame in week four after the Tritons kicked a last-second field goal… Pulaski has beaten Sheboygan South and Sheboygan North, and also lost to Green Bay Southwest… running back Dylan Hendricks leads the league with 751 yards rushing… Bay Port beat the Red Raiders a season ago, 29-22, but Pulaski had more first downs (21-12), ran more plays (58-45) and had a 336-262 total-yards advantage. Overall, Pulaski rushed 51 times for 320 yards in that game.
