Bay Port Sports Shorts: Volleyball Wins Ashwaubenon Invite, Baranczyk Wins Conference Meet

VOLLEYBALL: in a September 9 Invitational at Ashwaubenon, the Lady Pirates went 5-0 on the day to win overall.
Bay Port beat Seymour (2-0), Calumet, MI (2-0), Antigo (2-0), Wrightstown (2-0) and Ashwaubenon (2-1).
Brooke Clement had 36 kills in her 11 sets of play. Mady Schroeder had 73 assists and Maura McGinnity 114 assists on the day.
in a September 7 FRCC match at Notre Dame, the team lost 3-1 to the Tritons, 15-25, 25-23, 17-25, 16-25.
Clement led Bay Port with 11 kills, while Schroeder had 25 digs and McGinnity had 30 assists.
The Pirates improved to 14-4 overall and 1-1 in the FRCC with a 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-19, 25-15) of Green Bay Preble on September 14.
Clement registered 11 kills, 7 aces and 3 blocks for Bay Port. Olivia Schaut had 8 kills, McGinnity recorded 28 assists and Schroeder 10 digs.
Bay Port is next in action on September 21 when they travel to Manitowoc Lincoln for another FRCC match.
GIRLS GOLF: In a 9-hole conference meet at the Ledgeview Golf Course on September 8, Bay Port finished fourth out of seven teams with 201 points. Notre Dame won the event with team score of 195.
Jo Baranczyk took medalist honors with her 40, five shots ahead of runner-up Emily Conard from Notre Dame.
Tori Grimm (14th place, 52), Courtney Koeberl (23, 54), Maddy Peters (27, 55) and Lauren Lemorande (35, 71) rounded out the team scores.
Baranczyk once again took top honors on September 14, this time at a 9-hole FRCC meet at Thornberry Creek with her 37.
The Pirates finished in third place as a team, seven shots behind Notre Dame and four behind De Pere.
After four conference meets, Bay Port sits in third overall behind Notre Dame and De Pere for the conference lead.
The Pirates will next be in action on September 15 when they compete at the Metro Tournament in Oneida.
GIRLS TENNIS: the Lady Pirates tennis team had a September 7 Fox River Classic Conference home match against De Pere postponed due to inclement weather. The two FRCC rivals will now play on Monday, September 18.
In September 12 and 14 conference duals against Pulaski and Sheboygan North respectively, Bay Port lost close 4-3 matches. The Pirates dropped to 2-3 in FRCC play, with all of their losses being by a single match.

BOYS SOCCER: the Bay Port boys soccer team saw a 2-0 halftime lead over De Pere disappear in a 2-2 FRCC tie on September 7 at Bay Port High School.
Ethan Bellisle and Jimmy Erickson scored first-half goals, with Griffin Pecore assisting on both.
Bay Port competed in a tournament on September 8-9 at the Woodside Sports Complex in Wisconsin Dells and came away with a 3-1 win over Middleton and a 5-2 loss to Neuqua Valley.
The Pirates traveled to Green Bay Notre Dame on September 12 for a FRCC match and came away with a 5-1 loss to the Tritons. CLICK HERE to read the story and view pics of the match.
Bay Port finished off the week with a 2-1 loss to Appleton West on September 14 to drop to 2-6-1 overall. Pecore scored the only goal of the game for the Pirates in the second half with under ten minutes remaining.
Pecore leads the Pirates with 7 goals and 6 assists.
CROSS COUNTRY: the cross country teams hosted the 16-team “Pirate Invite” on September 14 at Meadowbrook Park. CLICK HERE to read story and view video and pics of the meet.
GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING: the Lady Pirates dive team will be in action on September 15 at the Ashwaubenon Invite (5:00), while the swimmers will get their turn the following day on September 16 (8:30AM).
