 Name       Ben DeLaurelle

Sport         Football

What is it like to be a leader on the football team at Ashwaubenon?

“It takes a lot of work. Being a leader means you have to set the example for other guys; especially the younger guys who are trying to learn. If I get upset at myself or others then that rubs off on the rest of the team and can change the way others play.”

What is your most embarrassing moment ever in football?

“When I first started playing football I didn’t know where the knee pads went in the practice pants, so I stuck them in with my thigh pads and my legs looked really big. It didn’t take long before I figured it out and I was so embarrassed.”

How many years have you been involved in football?

“I started flag football in 6th grade. Then in 7th grade, I started playing football for the Lions. I have played ever since.”

What is your most memorable moment in football?

“Lions football was really fun. I’d have to give a shout out to Anthony Guarascio and Will Adair for when they were my quarterbacks in 7th and 8th grade. I also can remember freshmen year when the varsity team went up to Superior to play in the second-round playoffs. The jv team was allowed to suit up with them and it was my first experience on the sideline for a varsity game.”

What’s the hardest aspect about football?

“The hardest aspect is the dedication and focus. It takes a lot of discipline in the off season to prepare yourself physically for the season to come. The weight room helps a lot and getting up there as much as you can is important.”

If you could be somebody for one day, who would it be?

“It would be really cool to be Enzo Ferrari. He had quite a life and I’m into cars so that would be a dream.”

What are your college aspirations?

“After high school, I’m planning on going to Michigan Tech to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.”

What would be your dream job once you graduate?

“My dream job is to be a part of the engineering team for a Swedish car company, Koenigsegg Automotive. However, my “reality dream job” so to speak would be to work for a company such as Audi or Tesla. A startup company would be pretty cool as well.”

What are your hobbies?

“I enjoy swimming with my friends. I also am really into ultimate Frisbee and enjoy playing during the summer with other students and leaders from my church. Hammocking is really relaxing and I like it a lot.”

What is your favorite sporting event ever attended?

“I would have to go with my first Packer game. I went with my dad and it was against the Texans. The Packers lost but it was still really exciting watching my favorite team play.”

What is your favorite kind of music?

“I like all sorts of music. I’m not all that picky when it comes to music however I don’t really like country music or heavy metal. I’m really into Christian rap and so are a couple of the guys at my church.”

What is your favorite thing to do on your phone?

“I like to use my phone to talk to my friends and family.”

What three words best describe you?

“Kind, helpful, funny.”

What is your favorite trip(s) ever taken?

“This summer I went over to Germany and the Netherlands for 12 days with 12 other people from my youth group. It was an incredible experience to see a different culture and make new friends and help out. It is by far the best vacation I’ve taken.”
